Euphoria is a genus of New World scarab beetles in the subfamily Cetoniinae, the flower chafers. It is estimated that there are 20-29 species of the genus Euphoria in North America. These beetles are diurnal, and visit flowers to obtain pollen and/or nectar. The larvae (grubs) are reported to live in decomposing matter, but some may have an association with ants (Insects of Cedar Creek). There are about 120 names available in the genus, but is not clear how many constitute valid species. Jesus Orozco at the University of Nebraska is doing a phylogenetic revision of the group that will help to solve some of the problems.
