The following is the episode list for 179 (including unaired pilot) episodes aired in the eight year run of the WB television series Charmed created by executive producer/head writer Constance M. Burge with creative oversight by executive producer Brad Kern its entire run. The series began on October 7, 1998, and finished on May 21, 2006 with Ms Burge leaving the project in May of 2001 at the end the third season.

At the same time, Shannen Doherty (Prue, 1998-2000) opted to depart the series and was replaced by Rose McGowan, (as the third sister Paige, Fall 2000-2006) in the fourth season's opening episode.

The show originally aired on Wednesdays at 9 p.m., before moving to Thursdays at 9 p.m. for its second through fourth seasons. At the beginning of the fifth season, it changed timeslots for a third and final time and moved to Sundays at 8 p.m. for the rest of its eight season run.

The list is ordered by the episodes' original airdates. It does not include the unaired pilot, in which Andy Trudeau was played by Chris Boyd and Phoebe was played by Lori Rom, who left the show for personal reasons.

When Phoebe has a premonition of Prue being stabbed to death, it coincides with a warrior coming to town in order to kill the eldest sibling witch as he did to the sisters' great-great-great-aunt. Prue casts a spell to triple her powers but ends up making two clones of herself.

An evil spirit of a serial killer escapes from Alcatraz Island seeking revenge. It's up to Phoebe and Prue to figure out how to vanquish this evil spirit and stop him from killing again, and they must do it without Piper.

As a Demon makes plans for his attempt to kill the Charmed Ones, he receives a visit from Tempus, a demon who will turn back time until the warlock succeeds in killing all the sisters, however the death of inspector Andy Trudeau leads Prue to defeat the demon once and for all.

Prue has difficulty dealing with the loss of Andy and refuses to use her powers .The sisters have one chance to recapture The Book Of Shadows or they will lose their powers forever.

When Phoebe has a vision of herself being burnt to death, the sisters travel ten years into the future to learn what happened. Only to discover that she used her new active,comabative powers to kill Cal Greene, causing a local D.A. named Nathanial Pratt to begin modern day witch trials as a platform for political office. Meanwhile, Prue and Piper try to save Phoebe, but they both are surprised and somewhat disappointed to learn how their lives turned out.

Prue finds some mysterious words on an unusual painting at the auction house, which sends her into another dimension within the painting. There the supposed innocent she finds and is determined to save, really is a warlock cursed into a painting by his one time witch partner, hoping to get out of the painting, to reunite with his fellow warlock lover. With Piper accidentally being trapped into the painting while trying to find Prue, its up to Phoebe, who's knowledge spell is wearing off.

Leo lures the manager of Dishwalla to P3, aware that the manager has made a pact with a demon that grants him fame and fortune in exchange for innocent souls. Darryl soon becomes involved when he investigates the mysterious disappearance of young women from many of Dishwalla's past concerts, and suspects that more will disappear when they next perform. 
27 2.05 "She's a Man, Baby, a Man!" Javier Grillo-Marxuach Martha Mitchell November 4, 1999
As a heatwave descends on San Francisco, Phoebe begins to have erotic dreams that end in the killing of her dream lovers. The sisters find out that she is psychically linked, through her powers, to a man-killing demon known as a 'Succubus'. But when they cast a spell, hoping to find and then vanquish the succubus, it turns Prue into a man.

While Phoebe is volunteering at a hospital, she finds the son of a patient to be in deep trouble, with brain-zapping warlocks. The Charmed Ones must save the young man from the warlocks who are after the power he has located from ancient tablets. Meanwhile, Piper and Prue cast a spell to hear hidden thoughts, in order to find out if Jack and Dan are warlocks.

Prue must face her greatest fear so that the sisters can destroy a water demon when they revisit the place where their mother mysteriously drowned. And in the process, they meet a stranger from their mother's past, who turns out to be her Whitelighter, Sam.

An assassination attempt on the sisters' lives forces Prue to go undercover as a mysterious hitwoman, known as Ms. Hellfire. While undercover, Piper and Phoebe race against time to protect the next intended victim. They soon find out that Barbas, the demon of fear, has taken control of Prue and makes her try to kill Phoebe and Piper, before it reaches the Midnight Hour. Prue also gets a new power, astral projection.

The media become involved when the doctor treating Piper is suspicious to how she recovered so quickly and Prue decides to quit her Job. 
35 2.13 "Animal Pragmatism" Chris Levinson, Zack Estrin Don Kurt February 10, 2000
A trio of mortal college girls looking for men on Valentine's Day, turn to magic for a solution by transforming three animals into men, with some indirect help from Phoebe. Meanwhile, Piper deals with both Dan and Leo wooing her for Valentine's Day and Prue adjusts to being unemployed. 
36 2.14 "Pardon My Past" Michael Gleason John Paré February 17, 2000
One of Phoebe's past lives comes back to haunt her as she learns that in the 1924 her past self was seduced by a warlock named Anton, in attempt to steal her cousins' powers. She finds out, to her dismay, that she is cursed by her evil power and that her cousins were Prue and Piper, the ones who tried to kill her.

A demon known as Litvack orders his henchmen to kill Bane Jessup, who Prue helped to put behind bars when Bane tried to have the Charmed Ones killed. Bane kidnappes Prue but all he wants is help from her. Meanwhile, Phoebe casts a spell that will give Piper a sign when it comes to choice of her true love.

After Prue prevents a Darklighter from killing a potential Whitelighter, by tempting to commit suicide, she becomes the target for his anger. To get revenge, he throws Prue into deep depression with a curse, that could put her life at risk in the Magical World.

A group of three elderly witches, one of them a sister of the Halliwells' grandmother, summon a demon called Cryto, to restore their youth. However, in return, the demon wants the powers of the Charmed Ones.

Phoebe tries to help the ghost of a former student who was killed by a demon, wanting to stop the publication of the student's thesis, proving the existence of evil. The doctor who treated Piper when she was critically ill discovers, and gains, the Halliwells' powers. After being twisted by the magic now within him, he goes on a sadistic organ-harvesting spree, targeting criminals in the streets, in order to save a family member. However, the Consequences get tough and he decides to ignore the sisters' warnings, which leads him to his death. 
43 2.21 "Apocalypse Not" Sanford Golden, Sheryl J. Anderson Michael Zinberg May 11, 2000
When a vanquishing spell goes awry while the Halliwells try to destroy the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Prue and one of the Horsemen become trapped in a vortex. Piper and Phoebe enlist the help of the three remaining Horsemen to free Prue and the fourth Horseman before the vortex closes.

A heartbroken Phoebe is transformed into a Banshee and Prue is transformed into a dog, forcing Piper to gain more confidence in her capabilities as a witch.

When the Charmed Ones must protect a doctor from the Source's assassin Shax, Piper and Prue accidentally expose themselves as witches on live TV, while Phoebe tries to save Cole from being turned evil in the Underworld. As Prue and Piper's situation spirals out of control, the Source comes and calls Cole to council. When Piper gets shot by an insane wannabe witch, Phoebe is forced to make a deal with the Source to turn back time, leaving herself, Leo, and Cole trapped in the Underworld, unaware of the cost that would eventually be paid: Prue's life.

-Note: This is the last episode Shannen Doherty (Prue Halliwell) appears in.

They must protect her from Shax.

The Source tries to lure Paige to evil and destroy the reconstituted Charmed Ones while an inspector from the police investigates Piper and Phoebe, convinced that they have killed Prue and are putting their secret in danger again. Paige meets her mom.

Richard realizes that Mordaunt can't be trusted, but before he can intervene, Mordaunt tricks Piper into relinquishing the sword and its power to him.

   The Order, a demonic brotherhood manage to kidnap Wyatt after Chris' meddling with "Prince Charmed's" attractiveness backfires turning a birthday dinner party into a food fight between the three. Chris has to reveal that he has come back in time to prevent Wyatt from turning evil, his true mission, and further that in the future Wyatt will abuse his power and others when he uses his power to "take over everything", but becomes shunned despite the ambiguity of the news.

Phoebe, Paige and Piper inadvertently expose themselves as witches in front of Jason, causing him to leave Phoebe. Richard casts a spell to free himself of his family's negative karma, but accidentally channels the spirit of Mata Hari, a stripper and double agent during WWI, into Phoebe. Phobe, focused on healing the rift with Jason then spurned then turns on him and sabotages a business meeting spectacularly before Paige and Piper stop it.

   Phoebe escapes the manor and the two in the company of demons and decides to get revenge on Jason by arranging for a demonic firing squad to kidnap and kill him. Meanwhile, Piper and Paige try to vanquish a group of Swarm Demons, the last on Chris' list of the most significant threats to Wyatt and Richard taps into his parents' hidden grimoire to brew a potion that will reverse the effect on Phobe and gets it to Jason, taking the blame for the debacle between the two lovers. With continued proof that Richard cannot exercise restraint and "Not Use Magic", Paige becomes convinced she must leave Richard or convince him to take a powers canceling potion for his own and the greater good... a determination which leads the two to quarrel.

The three are railing at the complications and deleterious impact magic has on their lives when a portal opens in the middle of their stairway's lower landing. Another elder named Gideon, Leo's old mentor at Magic School, calls upon Piper, Phoebe, and Paige to find out who cast the spell of darkness upon the school and conjured up the Headless Horseman (from the story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow), who has been beheading the teachers. While Piper and Paige tackle a group of surly teenagers Piper becomes the horseman's next victim and spends most of the episode as a (functioning) head on a table.

   Meanwhile, Phoebe is sent on a vision quest by the student Enola, who is a young shaman, and gets a glimpse into the demon free future (foreshadowing the Avatars episodes), where she discovers she will have a child and which enables her to guess Chris' true identity. Questioning whether such a future is even possible, she is told she must be herself and accept her bad with the good about who she is and then it can happen—the advice the three give give the youth terrorizing the teaching staff.

Phoebe frees a genie, Jinny, from a bottle, only to find that Jinny is a demon and that she has been tricked into becoming the genie herself. Anxious to put Leo and Piper back together so he can be conceived, Chris uses Phoebe to make his wish come true, but she takes his instructions too literally. Feeling that he is losing Paige, Richard opportunistically covets the genie's magic and steals the bottle so he can wish Paige back into his life. This episode ends with both Paige and Richard reconciled to permanent separation for Richard must take a powers-canceling potion for his own good, as Paige has counseled for several episodes. The scene with Richard showing the empty potion bottle to Paige is the last Richard appears in the series.
