ISO 3166-2:JP is an ISO standard which defines geocodes: it is the subset of ISO 3166-2 which applies to Japan. It covers 47 prefectures. The first part is the ISO 3166-1 code JP for Japan, the second part is two-digit-numeric.
The names are listed in accordance with Kunrei-shiki (ISO 3602) Romanization system, followed by the Hepburn spelling (if different) and the kanji in brackets.
