Phase 2 reactions are metabolic processes aimed at attaching polar and ionizable groups to phase 1 metabolites in order to form water soluble products which are devoid of activity and easily excreted from the body.

Some phase 2 reactions include glucuronidation, sulfation, methylation, acetylation, Glutathione conjugation and amino acid conjugation.
