Tzukim (Hebrew: צוקים) - also called Zuqim - is a communal settlement in southern Israel. It belongs to the Central Arava Regional Council. The Hebrew word "Tzukim" means "cliffs." It's a secular community.
Zuqim was founded in 1996 on land vacated by the Bildad army base. In 2001, The Jewish National Fund started a partnership with the Central Arava Regional Council, to expand Zuqim. Today, it has some 25 families living there. Another 25 will move in within the next 2 years.
The community is not an agricultural community like most others in this region; instead, it will sustain itself by having small scale industry and tourist accommodations. Some 200 tourist beds are being planned.
